Attend an IT4U Webinar

Overview

This procedure describes how to participate in a live IT4U webinar.

Registration for IT4U webinars is required via My LINC. Captioned YouTube recordings of past webinars are available on the IT4U website.

Each IT4U webinar takes place within a BlueJeans virtual meeting room. Although it is not required for attending the meeting, we recommend that you:

During the webinar, you can interact via the chat panel. You will not need a camera or microphone.

If you are a person with a disability who needs an accommodation to participate in IT4U webinars, please contact its.hr@umich.edu. Notify us at least 10 business days before a live webinar.

Join the Webinar

  1. Turn on your speakers or wear headphones.
  2. Click the webinar URL from your confirmation email or copy and paste it into Chrome, the supported browser. The BlueJeans Network page opens.
  3. If you have downloaded the BlueJeans app, you can select either "Join with Browser" or "Join with the BlueJeans App" (recommended).
  4. If the webinar hasn’t started yet, a message will display. The webinar host will open the virtual meeting room about 10 minutes before the 9:00 a.m. start time.
  5. If you haven't set up a BlueJeans account, you will be prompted to enter your name when the room opens. The microphone and camera on your computer or other device are automatically muted.

During and After the Webinar

  • If you cannot hear the audio, check to see if your speakers are muted.
  • Use the icons on the right to view the chat panel, see who else is in the room, etc.
  • Screenshot of BlueJeans navigation panel.

  • For technical assistance during the webinar, contact the ITS Service Center (4-HELP).
  • Enter questions or comments in the chat panel. No need to request to interact live.
  • At the end of the webinar, we ask that you provide feedback on your experience. The host will provide the URL to a brief survey in the chat panel.
  • When the host ends the webinar, the virtual meeting room will close and everyone will exit.
