Research Space Reports in Business Objects

You can query the Financials and Space Management data sets (FN01 and SM01 BusinessObjects universes) in the U-M Data Warehouse to obtain information on research space productivity at the University of Michigan. The following table describes two predefined Business Objects reports that provide this information. The reports provide a common method for measuring research space usage, regardless of discipline, using financial and space data that is related to research. Each of these reports can be found in the following BusinessObjects location:

Public Folders > UM-Maintained > Physical Resources > SM01 Space Management.

Each report has three prompts you need to specify before you can refresh it:

• Enter value(s) for Fiscal Year: You can run this report for one or multiple years (ex. enter 2009;2010; to run the report for FY09 and FY10).
• Enter DeptID (Start): Enter the only DeptID (ex. 676700), or the first DeptID in a range (ex. 819000).
• Enter DeptID (End): Enter the only DeptID again (ex. 676700), or enter the last DeptID in a range (ex. 819999).

Notes:

• You must have access to both the Financials and the Space data sets in order to run reports successfully. You must also have access to Business Objects. Contact your Unit Liaison if you need assistance with access.
• Refer to the Notes tab of each report to read important information regarding the criteria that were used to generate it. The criteria listed on each Notes tab are not modifiable.
