Overview
The Change Calendar in ServiceLink provides a complete look at all scheduled changes, maintenance windows and blackout dates. Consolidating this information into one calendar accessible to all ServiceLink users helps improve communication between offices, service and projects. It also helps groups recognize potential conflicts and plan optimal times to implement changes.
Calendar Views
ServiceLink provides three different calendars in the Change module:
- Change Windows Calendar - The primary change calendar which shows all schedule changes, blackout days and maintenance windows. Any references to the Change Calendar in ServiceLink are about this calendar.
- Blackout Windows - A list of all scheduled blackouts. From this list you can view the details about each window.
- Maintenance Windows - A list of all scheduled maintenance windows. From this list you can view the details of each window, including the impacted Configuration Items.
Understanding the Change Windows Calendar
The Change Calendar is color-coded to help provide an at a glance look at what events are scheduled.
Blue - Standard Maintenance Windows
Maintenance windows are defined at an administrative level by members of the service management team. Criteria are attached to these windows to define what activities would be included in that window, and what would fall outside the scope of that window.
Standard maintenance windows act as a placeholder. Any change planned for that maintenance window needs to be created and completed through the change management process. If a standard maintenance window does not have any associated change record(s), it can be assumed that there will not be a change implemented during that time.
Gray - Blackout Days
Blackout days are defined at an administrative level.
Green - Change Request
Hover over the request’s icon to view details about the change request. To see the full record, double-click on the icon.
Viewing the Change Windows Calendar
The Change Calendar can be viewed in multiple ways, depending on your needs. When in the Change Windows Calendar module, there are icons in the upper right to adjust the calendar. Use the Previous/Next arrows to view different time spans.
- Monthly: The monthly view gives a broad overview of the month's activities.
- Weekly: The weekly view shows a week's activities in a 24-hour format.
- Daily:The daily view shows a single day's activities.
- Timeline:The timeline view shows a week's schedule in a bar format. Click the Expand Timeline icon (+) to increase the number of days displayed.
